AN INTERGENERATIONAL EXCHANGE PROJECT

Neither generation has the whole picture. Clarity and connection come from deliberate exchange.

CarryShareOwe begins with listening: gathering questions, wisdom, memories, and honest reflections across generations, in the Black community.

What Is CarryShareOwe?

CarryShareOwe is an intergenerational exchange project connecting Black elders and young adults, starting with listening and moving toward real conversation, gatherings, and community across generations.

We're launching with an 8-minute survey and a growing set of conversation prompts, with in-person engagement and deeper exchange still to come.

Our elders carry decades of hard-won experience. Our young adults carry insight their elders have no lived frame for. This isn't one-way extraction, it's two generations sitting across from each other, each leaving with something they didn't walk in with.

THREE WORDS. ONE PRACTICE.

What we CARRY

What we inherit, survive, remember, and hold, often invisible to others.

What we SHARE

The stories, questions, laughter, lessons, and truths that pass between us.

What we OWE

The care, attention, and responsibility we owe each other, and don't always give.

INTERGENERATIONAL LISTENING SURVEY

Your voice shapes what comes next

The survey takes about 8 minutes. Whether you’re an elder, a young adult, or somewhere in between, your experiences and questions are exactly what this project is built on.

This is an early listening effort to understand what matters most when the generations sit down to talk, and your answers will directly shape what comes next, from conversations to shared gatherings and more.

Take the Survey

A PREVIEW FROM THE EXCHANGE

Take a prompt. Bring it to your next call, dinner, or family gathering.

The Exchange is where CarryShareOwe's real questions live. Right now, that means a growing set of conversation starters. In time, it becomes something bigger, a living collection of the wisdom, stories, and reflections this project gathers, shared here for others to learn from.

For now, take a prompt with you and see where it leads.

ELDER

What's a rule you followed your whole life that you'd tell a young person to break?

YOUNG ADULT

What's something your generation understands about connection, or disconnection, that older generations might not see yet?

Share your own experience by taking the survey, then grab a prompt from The Exchange and start a conversation of your own, with someone from another generation in your life.
